BedMasterEx for Neonatology

Unique Neonatal ICU challenges require unique Neonatal ICU solutions

    • System Overview
    • Neonatal Data Acquisition & Storage
    • Patient Monitors
    • Neonatal Specific Medical Devices

System Overview:

The neonatal patient is unique to any other patient in the healthcare continuum. More commonly than in adult care areas, your patient is expected to be in the neonatal intensive care unit for weeks, or potentially even months. BedMasterEx can provide you with critical long-term data storage for the neonatal patient’s entire clinical stay. In addition, the clinician or researcher has the ability to easily access, review, analyze, and manage that information from any hospital pc/workstation or remotely from an office or home.

Neonatal Data Acquisition and Storage

BedMasterEx provides limitless collection and storage of vital signs, alarms, and clinical waveforms from your monitors for the duration of the patients’ stay. Unlike patient monitoring manufacturers, BedMasterEx stores that clinical data post-discharge, for as long as you determine necessary, in a HIPAA compliant and encrypted SQL database.

Patient Monitors

BedMasterEx stores and trends waveform, vital sign, and alarm event data from both the GE and Philips patient monitoring systems. Clinicians can review waveforms and vital signs in near real-time or retrospectively via tabular or trending charts; Cardiorespirogram (CRG) trends are included. The alarm review page allows for monitoring and unlimited storage of alarm events by category as determined by the patient monitor and each event is linked to its related waveforms and CRG trends.

Neonatal Specific Medical Devices

BedMasterEx effectively integrates data from many neonatal-specific medical devices. The collection and syncronization of these unique data sets allow for trending, correlation, and review of environmental and cardio-respiratory parameters from the third party devices. Our device list is rapidly growing and driven by customer request. Some of these include:

  • GE Giraffe OmniBeds
  • GE Panda Warmers
  • Somanetics INVOS Cerebral/Somatic Oximeters

Digital Video

The BedMasterEx video option provides a solution that allows remote visual monitoring or retrospective clinical review—a powerful tool given today’s private room concept. Features of the video application include:

  • Video stream is synchronized and embedded with patient monitor waveforms
  • Resolution up to 30 frames per second
  • Remote viewing via a secure connection to the Hospital’s network (Citrix compatible)

Electronic Medical Record Integration

Reduce medical documentation errors and clinical staff time by sending patient data automatically from your BedMasterEx database to your hospital’s electronic medical record system using an industry-standard HL7 interface. BedMasterEx can also receive an inbound ADT feed to ensure that the correct patient information is linked to the clinical data from the appropriate monitors.
