What Is Person-centered Care And How Can It Improve Healthcare?
In its Diagnostic Practices and Medical Information Framework, the World Health Organization identifies person-centered care, known as patient-centered care, as an approach for providing care in which the patient takes control of the healthcare process rather than receiving services under passive circumstances. Based on patient views, input, and experiences being able to improve our practices, we developed this care strategy.
Why Is Patient-centered Care So Important?
Patient-centered care is expected to allow patients to better manage their own health and ensure that their physical and social well-beings are matched with satisfaction with care; for example, improving self-care and the satisfaction of patients.
How Does Patient-centered Care Improve Patient Safety?
Patient safety initiatives can only be supported when patients are properly engaged, satisfied, and listened to. It is also important for clinicians to make certain their care team members are knowledgeable about their responsibilities and do their best to avoid errors as it relates to their patients’ needs.
How Does Person-centred Care Improve Health Outcomes?
In an environment of patient-centered care, patients receive better treatment, healthcare professionals are satisfied with their care, resources are used more effectively, and costs are lowered.
Why Is Person-centred Care Important In Healthcare?
Care that includes a person-centered approach has three benefits for healthcare: patients may feel respected, actively involved, and in full control when receiving it instead of letting it be just another word for it. Patients use it as a motivation to adopt stic that improve and help them manage their own health.
