Excel Medical Undergoes Organizational Changes in Response to FDA Clearance of WAVE

A serious commitment to eradicating unexpected deaths leads to new policies and new hires.

Jupiter, Fla. – April 4, 2018 – Following the news about FDA clearance for the WAVE Patient Surveillance and Predictive Algorithm Platform, Excel Medical announced today that it is undergoing organizational changes to help support WAVE, including hiring Mark Koppel, M.D.*, as the organization’s first Chief Medical Officer.

“Bringing on Dr. Koppel as CMO reflects the maturation of our company,” says Lance Burton, who was recently appointed President of Excel Medical. “It recognizes the need for us to have a clinical voice to help us advance how medicine is practiced with the promise of predictive analytics, in the face of a healthcare environment filled with institutional and regulatory hurdles.”

In addition to hiring Dr. Koppel as CMO, Excel Medical created two new Enterprise Executive sales positions, filled by Wes Davis and Jason Dvorak*, to help support the WAVE product launch. Excel also recently published its new website, www.excel-medical.com, which reflects the organization’s unerring commitment to make a safer hospital patient environment by advancing its mission to eliminate unexpected deaths in hospitals.

“Part of being a CMO is seeing where there is a medical need and discovering how we can fill it with technology,” says Dr. Koppel, “It is refreshing to work in this capacity for an organization that is so dedicated to a serious need—reducing deaths due to preventable harm in hospitals—and has the technology to take on the problem.”
