The Patient Services Department of Memphis International Airport can arrange for a shuttle to and from the airport. Shuttle buses will transport you from St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to other hospital locations, such as the Ronald McDonald House, Target House, Tri Delta Place, or your hotel. Visitors and patients are free to park on campus. Due to the shuttles following a predetermined route, side trips to restaurants and other destinations are not permitted. Patients and their immediate family members and caregivers are welcome to park for free in the hospital’s parking garage.
Families with four members can live near campus for free. Every hospital gate is guarded at all times, with security guards stationed at all entrances. Families of patients can park their vehicles in the patient parking lot as well. If your child is going to St. Jude, the staff will ask you to read and sign a general consent form. It is critical that you understand the terms and conditions of your consent as well as the treatments that you are considering. When you enroll your child in (or sign him up for) a clinical research study, you commit to his receiving the necessary treatment. All children who meet the criteria for open clinical trials in the United States are eligible for treatment at St. Jude.
The cost of receiving health care is not an issue for patients. St. Jude will cover all of the costs of your child’s treatment if he or she is accepted and does not have health insurance. A meal card is activated for the number of days the patient is eligible for and for the meals he or she consumes. The cafeteria is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Holidays and weekends are not permitted. Cash, St. Jude meal cards, MasterCard, and Visa are accepted at the cafeteria. Fresh food prepared outside of the hospital and brought to your child’s room must be kept in a Nutrition Center refrigerator on each floor. A registered dietitian can assist you in resolving any food-related issues you may have.
It allows patients to maintain normal educational activities and return to their community schools through the Chili’s St. Jude School Program. There are separate teacher offices for parents and families, as well as classrooms, a computer lab, and a waiting area. Every week, each child in the School Program is assigned at least three hours of instruction.
