In the early hours of August 1, 1966, a young man named Charles Whitman climbed to the top of the University of Texas at Austin’s iconic clock tower and opened fire on the people below. In the end, 16 people were killed and 32 wounded in what was, at the time, the deadliest mass shooting in American history. For many of the victims, the UT Tower shooting was their first and last brush with fame. But for one man, it was just the latest in a series of murders that would earn him the nickname “The Angel of Death.” That man was Charles Whitman’s younger brother, Kenneth. In the years before the UT Tower shooting, Kenneth Whitman had worked as a nurse at a number of hospitals in the Austin area. At each one, patients under his care started dying in unusually high numbers. In some cases, the deaths were attributed to Kenneth’s careless mistakes. In others, they were the result of his intentional actions. By the time of the UT Tower shooting, Kenneth Whitman had already killed at least 15 people. But he wasn’t done yet. In the days and weeks after the shooting, Kenneth Whitman continued to work as a nurse at a local hospital. And patients continued to die in his care. In all, it’s estimated that he killed at least 23 people before he finally met his end at the hands of the police. To this day, the full extent of Kenneth Whitman’s crimes is unknown. But one thing is certain: He was one of the most prolific serial killers in American history.
Donald Harvey was sentenced to three consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole, making him eligible for parole after 60 years. According to Arthur Ney, the Hamilton County prosecutor, Harvey confessed to five more murders. Harvey was also convicted of attempted aggravated murder in addition to the aggravated murder charges. His nurses referred to him as the Angel of Death, or Kiss of Death, according to Ney. According to the judge, Harvey increased tension in his body in order to relieve it, causing him to kill himself. According to Harvey, he killed the victims by poisoning them, suffocation, or injecting air into their blood. During the hearing, Ney stated that Harvey is both sane and competent, but that he is also a compulsive killer. According to Nelson, Harvey’s confession was primarily based on cynide poisoning, and not the death penalty. If all his claims are true, Harvey would become one of the most infamous serial killers in American history.
They murdered their victims by injecting them with morphine or forcing them to inhale water. In 2008, all four women had served their time.

What Hospitals Did Charles Cullen Work At?
Charles Cullen worked at many hospitals during his career as a nurse. Some of these hospitals include: Morristown Memorial Hospital, Somerset Medical Center, Warren Hospital, and St. Barnabas Hospital. He also worked at a number of other hospitals in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
Their father is serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole, and his daughters are perplexed as to why he is unable to see them or explain what he did. “I know what he did,” said one of Cullen’s daughters, but “it’s unfair that he can’t come see us all.” Charles Cullen’s wife, Adrienne, has requested that the judge allow her to visit her husband in prison while he serves a life sentence for child sex crimes. She wrote to Judge Armstrong that she is deeply hurt by the sentence and wishes to express her love and support to him. Charles Cullen was sentenced to eleven consecutive life terms in March 2006 for molesting two young girls for fifteen years. He will not be eligible for parole until he is no longer than a year older. The daughters, who are now grown up and only became aware of what their father did when he was arrested, say they don’t understand why his prison sentence is so long and they are puzzled by how he can’t visit them.
